Warpcon is looming.

Warpcon is this weekend, I sold my only playable 40K army, and I'm playing 40K

Sat down this morning and looked at what 40K figures I have assembled and wrote a list with a low model count, 36 including the 3 tanks.
Just undercoated the 33 infantry using Vallejo black primer through the airbrush and I can honestly say it was fantastic, the extra control I had with using the airbrush was great for ensuring I got all the model covered and it has dried to a nice flat surface that has shrunk into the details nicely.

Just going to hit the details with foundation paints, and then finish the army at a later date, warpcon has a 3 colour minimum, and based. I wonder if painting the bases grey and claiming it is cityfight basing will work?

On a roll.

Painted another platoon today, this time consisting of 3 Cromwells and a Firefly for my 7th Armoured army.
Painted using the same method as the Stuarts, not award winning, but quick and passes the 3' test with flying colours.

Back on Track, pun intended.

Wohoo, fingers are better.  So this morning I set about painting my 3 Stuart 's that make up the Recce element of my 7th Armoured army.
Started with a base coat of the British Armour warpaint, it has it's detractors for being too light in colour but I have no problems.  A wash of Citadels Badab Black, a quick drybrush and then pick out the details, apply the decals and varnish.  The decals in this case have come from Dom's Decals which I feel are a better scale the Battlefront ones.  I will be weathering the army using MiG powders, but plan to do the whole army at once so I can remain consistent.

Vicious barsteward.

My house cat got out and when carrying him back home he went apeshit, really apeshit. End result I have puncture wounds to the bone on my finger and thumb of my right hand, and now they are very painful and swollen. Can't even hold a paint brush at the moment or operate my airbrush. So no painting this week, and driving is really painful ATM so I am house bound as well.  Bugger.

Decision made.

After looking through the new Turning Tide book it turns out that the 82nd "All American" Airbourn can longer take tiffies as a support option, so that has made my choice easier. My 7th "Desert Rats" Armoured Division will get painted first, considering I have completed two infantry armies as well the change will be nice. So I've spent today finishing the assembly of my 16 Cromwells, those fenders can be a pain.

The Sexton command and staff teams arn't pictured.

So I have a load of tanks to paint, about 33 armoured vehicles in all and 9 stands of infantry (3 extra stands so I can field a lorried rifle platoon.) Going to start with the Stuart V tanks, just have to work out if they were actually part of the 7th armoured or 8th (Kings Royal Irish) Hussars.

Aaagh.

Between being bought The Pacific (HBO Miniseries) box set, Fallout-New Vegas and buying SWMBO a Kinect for Christmas I've not got much done.
Torn between painting my 7th Armoured or my 82nd Airbourne I decided to paint my Typhoons as they can be used in both lists.  At this time the Typhoons are basecoated and I have applied the camo to them. Only really the invasion stripes and decals to go now(And yellow bits.), I've decided to Airbrush the white base for the stripes as I don't think brush applying white will give me the coverage I need, so a small delay as I wait for the paint and masking tape to arrive. Bought some Tamiya tape as I don't trust the B&Q stuff I have not to lift the paint.

I have also been playing with my camera and am getting slightly beter results, need to improve my lighting, the macro ring is too harsh and my daylight bulbs arn't quite bright enough.
My group of shermans have gone from this;

To this;

As you can see I've improved my 'depth of field', just remembered the top picture was taken using the ring light so I'll try that next, and also a group shot using my flash gun with a softbox attached.
